Rombout Chaplain Fr. Tom Colucci recognized at FDNY Mass

Today on the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 my long time friend and high school classmate Fr. Tom Colucci was named an Honorary Chaplain for the FDNY. Truly a fitting honor for a heroic FDNY Captain turned priest. Many of his fellow heroes were at the Firefighters Mass to honor him and their lost friends. In his powerful sermon Fr. Tom said he wore the red vestment given to him by his firehouse friends when he was ordained. He noted that red is the color of martyrs and that the firemen and others who were murderered that day were truly martyrs now in heaven. The mass was held at St. Francis Assisi Church where the first 9/11 victim Fr Mychal Judge had served and been the FDNY Chaplain. Ironically Fr. Mych was a friend as well, who I knew through hero police officer Steven McDonald, his wife former Malverne Mayor PattiAnn McDonald and their attorney Dennis Lynch. Fr. Mych would be very pleased that Fr. Tom will be carrying on his ministry. Posting this so our Albertus Magnus High School classmates and friends can share. #AlwaysRemember
