1018 Hrs Friday March 3rd 1989 - Rombout was dispatched for an accident which involved a rolled over fuel truck. As responders arrived, they found one vehicle in a ditch and a fuel truck on it's side in the northbound lane of Rt.9 @ South Terrace. Under the command of Chief Roger Healey, mutual aid was requested early on due to the product from the truck spilling into a nearby stream. This stream led directly into the Fishkill Cemetary pond where several water fowl inhabitated. After several hours, the spill was contained and all the water fowl were decontaminated safely. Rombout was assisted on scene by Fishkill FD, Glenham FD, Chelsea FD, Town & Village Police, Sloper Willen EMS, Dutchess County Sheriff's Dept, NY State Police, NYS DEC and Dutchess County Hazardous Materials Division.
