It is with a heavy heart that the officers and members of the Rombout Fire Company regret to announce the passing of Honorary Life Member James "Jim" McGowan. Jim was a charter member when Rombout Fire Company formed in 1971. He was the first Captain of the Rombout Fire Company, and went on to move up the ranks to Chief of the District from 1978, 1979. Afterwards, he served as Deputy Chief until his election as a District Commissioner from 1986 - 1995. Rombout Fire Company, recognizing his dedication and accomplishments, made him an Honorary member in 1993. Jim was a wealth of knowledge on the history of Rombout and how things were done back in his day. His many stories will be missed by the membership.

Chief McGowan will always be remembered as an outstanding fireman, dedicated member, and an all around great man.

Rest Easy Chief, we will take it from here.

Services at this time will be private with a memorial at a later date.

Please keep the McGowan family and the Rombout Fire Company in your thought and Prayers.
