FISHKILL – The Rombout Fire District voters approved the purchase of a new Tower Ladder and Pumper that carries 1,000 gallons.
The new Tower is expected to cost about $850,000 and the Pumper about $343,000, Bill Muller of the Board of Fire Commissioners said. The old Tower will be sold to the manufacturer for $200,000. The new Tower will also be funded by a 15-year $400,000 bond and $250,000 from the District's replacement account, Muller said.
The new Pumper would be funded by taxes on town businesses and homes.
Bids have gone out and Muller said he expected the new equipment to arrive in 8 to 14 months.
