Is the Chief or anyone paid?: Everyone in our department is volunteer including the Chief. There are no paid members, however, we do have a Service Awards Program which will give us a pension when we turn 62 years old. The amount of the pension depends on how long each person has been a member and how active they have been.

Does anybody sleep at the firehouse?: We do not sleep at the firehouse. However, during certain situations, many members will spend the night at the firehouse on "stand-by". These situations are usually severe storms, hurricanes, tornado watches, winter storms, etc.


How do you get notified of a call?: All calls go through the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Control's 911 System. All 911 calls to the center are logged and then dispatched. The 911 Center will send out two-tones that are specific to our Department. These tones open voice pagers advising the type and location of the call.
